A Little Bit about our Golden Oldies Club

Stepping into 2023…. Golden Oldies recently visited the “House of Jack”, a dance studio at Ocean Terminal, where we were entertained with an afternoon of classic ballroom dancing followed by tea and biscuits. Thereafter we had a short wander round “The Wee Hub”, home to a variety of community-led organisations. The group also had Home Energy Scotland in to visit, doing a lengthy talk on the current high energy crisis, how best to manage this, with lots of fantastic hints, tips and advice on the assistance available.

We also regularly hire ‘memory boxes’ with various items and props ranging from the 1950s through to the 1970s, all free of charge from the “Living Memory Museum” at Ocean Terminal. These include boxes themed on transport, cleaning, dress up and a school satchel, with service users commenting “It’s nice to go back to the past and relive memories of our childhood”.

Going forward we are planning to visit the Ratho Barge, Community Garden in the local area, and have various other outings throughout the year. Otherwise, our time is spent in the local area having hot lunches, games days and, of course, a good blether!
